Shady Oaks Assisted Living, LLC in Bristol is our 2024 Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business of the Year! Currently owned by Tyson Belanger, Shady Oaks was established in 1976 by Tyson's parents, Vernon and Kay Belanger. Tyson's grandmother, Vera worked and lived at Shady Oaks as "House Mother" for more than 25 years, and many other family members served the business over the years. A notable fact, and one that Shady Oaks is proud of, is that at the onset of the COVID Pandemic, Shady Oaks 'bubbled up' to prevent the spread of the illness throughout their residents. Tyson and his staff lived and worked on premises for 10 weeks with Tyson personally covering the additional costs associated with that strategic decision, successfully coming out of those scary days unharmed. In addition to caring for their residents, Shady Oaks supports Alzheimer Association walks, the VFW, the Bristol Senior Center, and provides financial assistance to staff members, as well as residents facing financial hardships.
